No: 21 in a series of articles - Dr. Rau, Paracelsus Klinic...
In the Appenzell canton of Switzerland near Zurich there is the largest collection of alternative medical clinics anywhere in the industrialized world. It is a very unique situation around Lake Constance, both in Germany and Switzerland and it stems from a long history of natural medical understanding and practice, perhaps even centuries before allopathic medicine had been coined.
To the people of Appenzell and the many thousands that visit from around the world each year, this is not alternative medicine, it is the only medicine for the relief and cure of chronic disease. And least you jump to conclusions about the quality or efficacy of the treatment offered, most practitioners treating chronic diseases are conventionally qualified to at least M.D. level, most having multiple disciplines with relevant advanced qualifications, using some of the most sophisticated diagnostic equipment anywhere. The main difference is that most successful clinics practice biological medicine and offer non-invasive "natural" therapies designed to treat the whole organism, not simply the symptoms of any given disease.
Yes, this does take a lot more effort on the part of the patient but from the Americans I spoke with at Dr. Thomas Rau's Paracelsus Klinic in Lustmühle, not only were they prepared to partake in and be responsible for their own healing but they experienced success without the side or direct effects of treatment more commonly offered in conventional hospitals.
Since 1992 Dr. Thomas Rau M.D., has been the Chief Medical Director, CEO and part owner of the Paracelsus Klinic, the first center in Europe for integrative European Biological Medicine and Dentistry. The Klinic has a team of 8 doctors, 4 dentists and 75 therapists/assistants. Dr. Rau is trained and lectures internationally (including the US) in natural therapies such as Homeopathy, Isopathy, Complex Homeopathy, Dark-Field Microscopy, Thermography, Neural Therapy and Chinese Medicine.
I visited with Dr. Rau and his staff because of their success in treating prostate cancer (they have notable success with breast and other cancers) and their protocol, which equally addresses the overall heath and well being of the patient. The first thing that struck me as I was given a tour of the facility was the radiant health and confident, friendly attitude of everyone who worked there. It is as if they expect you to get well and that they are truly a functionary in this process. This must be very comforting to patients otherwise facing difficult options with conventional medicine.
At Paracelsus Klinic they practice "Integrated Biological Medicine" always integrating intensive therapy with many instruments and methods, with the dentistry, in our cancer treatment. It is based on knowledge of orthodox medicine, physiology and biochemistry, but integrates various ancient forms of traditional natural healing, which have been tried and tested for thousands of years. It combines the aforementioned with the very latest findings of scientific theory, physics and biochemistry.
The relationship of disease of the mouth and prostate cancer is well known (in addition to Dr. Rau read Dr. Larry Clapp et.al.) and the first order of the day in the healing process is to clean up the diseases and pathological disturbances of the patient's teeth and gums. This includes removal of amalgam filings, root canals and any other dental situations preventing natural energy flow and thereby the healing of the prostate. Only then can the other therapies begin to have a positive effect. Dr. Rau and many others have shown that prostate cancer cannot be healed without first healing the diseases of the mouth particularly situations with the teeth that lie on the prime energy meridian (Chinese medicine). Only following the dental work can Dr. Rau's team bring to bear the power of their various healing modalities to begin the patient's journey back to health. The dentists at Paracelsus work in a state of the art facility including the latest panoramic low radiation x-ray scanner that quickly (almost instantly) provides the doctor and patient with their first look at the problems they face.
Paracelsus Klinic's success record with prostate cancer is enviable and I am sure that a contributing factor is the willingness and enthusiasm with which the patients participate in their own healing process. After all, they have the most at stake and the most to benefit by halting and curing their cancer.
Dr. Rau has two excellent books that I will review in a future article; Biological Medicine, The Future of Natural Medicine and The Swiss Secret to Optimal Health. He will be lecturing in the USA at the A4M conference in Orlando, Florida April 25-27, 2008. Details of this lecture can be found at www.anti-agingevents.com/orlando and more information on the work of Dr. Rau and his team at www.paracelsus.com and www.pbmn.org.
