No: 2 in a series of articles  - In the Beginning

Researching the various “Alternative” treatments for prostate cancer has opened a lot of doors, some of which seemingly have lead me off the well trodden path. At least the path I had envisioned at the beginning of this part of my life’s journey. When I was diagnosed with prostate cancer almost three years ago, it was the attitude of the urologist that droveme to look beyond the surgery/radiation. There had to be another way, I thought. I onlylearned later after considerable reading that he was less than candid about the side effects that surgery might bring and perhaps more than that, the rate at which cancer returns with men whose prostate has been removed. I now believe my initial gut response was valid as I continue to make excellent progress and turn this experience into a visual information package to help other men be well informed before making any decision
about their own treatment for prostate disease in general and cancer in particular.

In this ongoing series of articles I will describe the journey I am taking in producing this DVD on “Alternative Treatments for Prostate Cancer”. It is a journey you can also follow on our website www.restoreprostatehealth.com .

The guide and inspiration for this journey is a book by Larry Clapp JD, Ph.D. called “Prostate Health in 90 Days without drugs or surgery”. It is a book that has sold almost 300,000 copies and encompasses the many elements that need to be addressed if one is to attempt to treat ones own prostate disease. Dr. Clapp cured himself of prostate cancer almost 12 years ago following the paths described in his book.

So why a DVD you ask?

It is well known that men generally are not good readers and more often than not do not have the desire or tenacity to research their own medical issues. Yet when offered an alternative to surgery, radiation or chemotherapy men have been shown to be much quicker to make a necessary change in their lifestyle than their female counterparts. So my goal is to put this information into a two hour DVD and present it in an easy-to absorb format in a friendly and familiar arena – the television set. ESPN it is not, but in the game of life we all weigh the odds in the lifestyle we choose and the risks we are prepared to take.I started shooting this DVD documentary two weeks ago and so far I have interviewed on camera three health practitioners who are very active in counseling their patients and clients in recovering from prostate disease without resorting to surgery and pharmaceuticals. These three doctors are three out of about 20 that I will feature, each one having a detailed perspective of one aspect of treatment and lifestyle change to be explored. Starting with my next article I will devote one article to each doctor and outline the core elements of their advice.
