The one important criterion about the healthcare professionals that appear in my documentary on “Alternative Treatments for Prostate Cancer” is that they are well and appropriately credentialed. I am stirring up enough mud with this project from conventional medicine without the accusation of using only “voodoo” or “witch” doctors. This credential issue has perhaps never been more appropriate than with the subject of homeopathy. As many success stories as I have been exposed to there seems to be a loud and often boisterous number of detractors on the internet or elsewhere. If you are an M.D. you have probably heard and maybe expressed those same doubts, unless perhaps, you have actually studied classical homeopathy or another form of “energy medicine”.
As far as I could find there is no one more qualified to talk about homeopathy and prostate cancer than Dr. A.U. Ramakrishnan M.B.B,S. - Madras Medical College, Madras, India (1966), M.F. Hom (Lond) - Faculty of Homeopathy, London (1967), Ph.D. - Awarded for work in Diabetes, Denmark (1985), and I had the pleasure of interviewing him in New York recently.
Dr. Ramakrishnan is an internationally known medical doctor from India. He travels the world lecturing on homeopathy and treating difficult cases. Some areas of his expertise are Cardiac Disease, Cancer, Multiple Sclerosis, Epilepsy, Arthritis and Diabetes.
To quote Dr. Ramakrishnan, “The treatment of cancer can be quite successful with Homeopathy, often in conjunction with allopathic medicine in advanced cases. In early stages, particularly with breast and prostate, the success rate is close to 80% with compliance by the patient. Currently we have over 400 active cancer cases and this number reflects the results we are seeing. Over the last 10 years there have been more than 3,000 cancer cases that reflect long term follow up of those cured.”
Many people first approach Dr. Ramakrishnan for treatment when the cancer is advanced, has recurred, or they have exhausted all the conventional possibilities for treatment. While it may be beyond the scope of homeopathy to offer a cure at this stage these patients are offered improved quality of life and length of prognosis. Many families report the patients live quite comfortably and actively.
It quite well known that Prince Charles, Queen Elizabeth and other members of the royal family rely solely on homeopaths for their continued great health and longevity (The Queen Mom lived to be a centenarian) much to the chagrin, I am told, of those whose sole medical option is the rigidly conventional British National Health Service. Dr. Ramakrishnan is the homeopathic physician to the President of India.
Dr. Ramakrishnan, according to his book (A Homoeopathic Approach to Cancer, co-authored by Catherine R. Coulter) which contains over 100 cases as well as details of his prescribing method, candidly states his success record of each disease.
Much of the resistance to homeopathy appears to be a lack of understanding (or indeed the belief) of the “energy” aspects of the body or even the individual cells. Traditional Chinese Medicine and such disciplines as acupuncture and shiatsu have relied on the energy flow of the body’s systems for treating and curing chronic disease for thousands of years. I am now told by reliable sources that due to a greater understanding of quantum physics, an explanation and therefore perhaps a global understanding of Homeopathy is perhaps only two – three years away. In the meantime due to the tirelessness of credentialed men like Dr. Ramakrishnan, men diagnosed with prostate cancer have yet another non-invasive treatment with a significant track record to consider.
