No: 18 in a series of articles  - Dr. Kessler ...

As most people who have studied the subject know, there is no silver bullet for curing prostate cancer. Perhaps that is one reason it has taken me a lot of time and travel to collect sources of information on camera for my documentary. All of the answers may or may not be in the USA but certainly the acceptance of treatments that are out of the box are more likely to be practiced in other countries. And not all third world countries.

One such country is Germany and one doctor who definitely does think out of the box is Wolf-Dieter Kessler. Other than meeting him face to face, which in itself was an uplifting experience, Dr. Kessler’s website is most informative as to his thinking and his methods. One aspect of Dr. Kessler that impressed me is his total openness in the type of medicine he offers his patients. His goal is to cure and not just treat the patient so he has a large palette from both sides philosophical divide from which to select the appropriate therapy.

A frequent lecturer in the United States, Dr. Kessler’s Clinic is located in the picturesque northern German village of Victorbur (near Aurich), and specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of chronic diseases. Wolf-Dieter Kessler M.D., the founder of the clinic, has been in the field of medicine for over 32 years. Since 1980, he and his staff of 11 therapists have been using functional medicine to treat patients from around the world.

Functional medicine is Dr. Kessler’s term for a medical approach that uses a variety of alternative and conventional diagnostic techniques and therapies to find and treat the cause of malfunctions in the body. Dr. Kessler believes that chronic diseases are caused by an underlying imbalance in the body. His Clinic uses state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment, as well as traditional diagnostic methods to find the cause of imbalances in the body. Some of the methods include Electro-acupuncture, including the Quint System which tests a variety of acupuncture points, Computerized segment electrography, Bioelectronics, Applied kinesiology and psycho-kinesiology.

In addition to allopathic treatments, the Kessler Clinic uses a broad range of homeopathic, naturopathic, and other alternative therapies to restore balance to the body. What impressed me midst the depth of the Clnic’s technical availabilities was the Ondamed Diagnostics and Therapy and the Quint Box Therapy. Details can be found at www.dr-kessler.com.

But none of his treatment ignores the basic life force and “raison d’etre” present (or not) in the patient. As Dr. Kessler puts it, “The will to live must have priority and can be strengthened by the following forces:

• A desire to improve the quality of life.
• A desire to experience the euphoria of well-being again.
• The will to live for somebody else.
• The deep will to be of value to society.

While Germany has a national health system many clinics including the Kessler Clinic are private institutions. If the treatment is conventional often it is included in the “national plan” but as patients are finding out curing chronic disease is not always possible using conventional means. It takes the extraordinary thinking of the likes of Wolf-Dieter Kessler to make the difference required and expected by such patients who are tenacious enough to seek a cure rather than just the treatment of symptoms.
